Chronology

1980s Hollywood adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx is finally getting her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks Hollywood stars, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past. Maxine "Oui" the shirt is a reference to Oui, a men’s adult porn magazine published in the US that features explicit nude photos. The Bette Davis quote shown at the beginning of the film is misquoted. In fact, “Until you’re known as a monster in my profession, you’re not a star.” Maxine Minx: Do you know what happened to the last person who tried to kill me?

I crushed her fucking head.. In keeping with the 80s movie aesthetic, “Be Kind Back” appears after the credits; display sticker like most video rental stores.. Maybe I was too excited to see this third installment of the X trilogy, because I left the theater a little disappointed. Mia Goth plays the role of Maxine.

Killing was good

But the character deserves a better ending. The stakes weren’t high enough. I’m a fan of Kevin Bacon, but his character wasn’t threatening at all. He was more comedic (in an annoying way) and was given too much screen time. The detectives were one-dimensional characters…and the finale was anticlimactic.

All the elements were there

I’d like to see something with more of a Tarantino vibe. The best part of the movie (besides Mia) was the 80s music and nostalgia. But I can’t really attribute that to the filmmakers. Not a bad movie by any means. But the final product just wasn’t as dynamic as it could have been…
